In the interest of providing maximum visibility to our customers, Sealand – A Maersk company would like to provide an update on strike action in ports in Finland. On 15 February, Finnish Transport Workers’ Union AKT has begun strike action, impacting all Finnish ports and terminals until further notice. The Finnish Port Operators Association and AKT union met for negotiations on 26 February but have not reached an agreement. At this moment, further timeline of negotiations is yet unknown.

Our teams continue to closely monitor the situation and stay in contact with involved parties, while evaluating impact on our schedules and our customers’ supply chains. In an effort to minimise delays and maintain the flow of cargo, our teams have made the following contingencies:

  • Volga Maersk will remain in Kotka.
  • Venta Maersk: All onboard cargo and cargo loaded in Rotterdam will be unloaded in Felixstowe. All Felixstowe loadings will be cancelled, and the vessel will not call Kotka.

In the interest of planning ahead, please reach out to your Customer Experience representative to discuss options for your cargo moving forward. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time. Our teams are doing everything in their power to keep customer impact to a minimum, but please be aware that the situation is subject to change and additional disruptions are possible.

We will keep providing you with the most recent developments as soon as more information becomes available. For more information or any questions you may have, please feel free to reach out to your contact person at Sealand – A Maersk Company.
