Customs clearance details

According to requirements from Dutch Customs Authorities all containers are blocked at all terminals. Proper customs documentation needs to be in place before a container can be collected from terminal. This being full customs clearance or T1 transit document. In case of goods with European origin the T2L needs to be presented to Dutch customs. For electronic documents a copy will be sufficient. In case of an “old fashioned” T2L, the original needs to be presented to customs.

Commodity

There are no restrictions in place. Special certificates are needed for plants/seeds (phytosanitary certificate), and meat or fish (Veterinary and Origin certificates). Please ask our Customer Service team for more details.

Weight and measurement

For general information on weight and measurement restrictions please contact your local Sealand office. The general road limitations are 40 mt for truck, chassis, cargo and tare weight of container.

Special cargoes

There are generally no restrictions, though for trucking to inland points special permits may be needed (dependent on the actual oversize, so please inquire). For dangerous cargo the dangerous cargo papers must be provided and approved at the time the booking is placed. Please ask our Customer Service team for exact details.

Free time: “Free Time” is the period agreed between the Carrier and the Merchant for which Demurrage and Detention shall not be paid by the Merchant.

Detention: Compensation payable when the Merchant holds Carrier's Container outside the port, terminal, or depot beyond the agreed amount of Free Time.

Demurrage: Compensation payable when the Merchant holds Carrier’s Container inside the terminal, port, or depot beyond the agreed amount of Free Time (the compensation includes terminal storage costs).

Import Demurrage Tariffs

• Freetime days are basis cargo type
• Tariff after freetime is basis equipment type, with exception for IMO cargo:
  • IMO cargo into DRY container = IMO rates,
  • IMO cargo into Reefer or special container = Reefer/special rates
  • IMO into NOR container = Reefer rates
• NOR follows DRY,
• Shipper’s owned tank follows DRY, with exception of IMO cargo
• 40´ High and 45´ High containers are considered equal to 40
• demurrage is INCLUDING terminal storage costs and plug-in fees
• Both freetime and charges after freetime expiry are per calendar day (i.e. including week-ends and holidays)
• Demurrage is invoiced based on tariff of final gate-out full location

Import Detention Tariffs

Switzerland Import Detention (Dry, Flat and Open top, Reef)

Notes:

• Reefer demurrage includes plug-in/electricity charges.
• Reefer container with IMO follows Reefer.
• Non-operating reefer (NOR) is considered as Dry Container for Import Demurrage and Detention.
• Non-operating reefer (NOR) with IMO follows Reefer for Import Demurrage.
• 40´ High and 45´ High containers are considered equal to 40´.
• Shipper's own containers (SOC) are not subject to detention and are subject to demurrage.
• Shipper’s Own Container is considered as equivalent to corresponding container type and cargo type. Examples: A Tank with Dry cargo follows terms of Dry equipment, while a Tank with IMO cargo follows terms of IMO.

For transports arranged in Merchant Haulage, empty containers must be returned to the Place of Delivery location as stated on the Bill of Lading.

In exceptional cases and after confirmation by the carrier, empty containers may be returned at an alternate location against payment of a drop-off fee as per tariff below.

The trigger for the validity period is the first load date at origin (Price Calculation Date).

Prices are calculated in CHF per calendar day.
